Description

Doshas are vital energies in Ayurvedic medicine, combining 5 elements: ether, air, fire, water and earth. They are related to physical and mental health. Their balance is essential to good health and well-being.

Vata (Air and Ether):
Light, cold, dry, mobile. Related to action, circulation and respiration, it balances vital forces and creativity. Unbalanced, source of anxiety and dry skin.

Pitta (Fire and Water):
Warm, oily, sharp, regulates the body's metabolism, with a balancing effect on reflection, fortitude and capacity for happiness. When out of balance, causes anger and inflammation.

Kapha (Water and Earth):
Heavy, cold, oily, slow, regulates immunity in the broadest sense. Linked to stability and compassion. In imbalance, excessive weight, slowness due to congestion.
