A chakra is a energy center through which your energy circulates throughout all your energetic bodies. The 7 main chakras are along your spine. They are located at the level of your etheric body. The etheric body is the subtle body closest to the physical body. The subtle or energetic body is like an invisible envelope surrounding your body.

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning" wheel" or "disc". This is because our chakras are in constant rotation.

As previously mentioned, there are around 88,000 chakras. They are connected to 72,000 nadis, which are energy channels.
Vital energy, or prana, moves along these nadis, for example through breathing. Vital energy is essential to life and guarantees a healthy existence. It flows through your body, taking pathways linking the various parts of your body.
The prana distributed throughout the body forms the chakras, of which there are 7 "main" ones.

History of the chakras

The concept of chakras dates back over 5,000 years and has its roots in Hindu spiritual traditions.

The Upanishads are sacred philosophical texts that form the theoretical basis of the Hindu religion. The first written references appear in them(Brahma Upanishad and Yogatattva Upanishad).

According to these fundamental Hindu writings, there are 7 main chakras and a multitude of secondary chakras.

Representation and meaning of the chakras

Most often, the chakras are represented by lotus flowers placed on the front of the body.

The roots of these flowers, the padmasThe roots of these flowers, padmas, are attached along the spinal column and right down to the base of the head.

Each of the 7 main chakras along your body has its own symbol, name, qualities, energy and color.

Each chakra plays a very specific role and has its own affirmation:

I feel (2nd chakra)
I am (3rd chakra)
I love (4th chakra)

The main causes of imbalance can be a blockage in the energy flow of the chakras and an excess of dynamism. This disharmony and these blockages are most often generated by stress, difficult past experiences or trauma.
This imbalance can be felt on a physical, psychic and even spiritual level.

In order to remedy the situation as effectively as possible and regain healthy harmony, solutions exist.
Try different methods to find out what works best for you.

Meditation

Meditation is a good technique for harmonizing your chakras. You can, for example, do a meditation for all 7 chakras, or a meditation directly linked to a specific chakra, depending on the disharmony you've noticed.

Mantras

Mantras are the repetition of a sacred syllable or phrase with spiritual power. A sound, or mantra, is associated with each chakra. Repeating these mantras during meditation has the power to boost your chakras.

Massages

A massage specifically linked to each chakra is a good way to restore harmony.

Visualization

Visualizing the color of the chakra(s) you wish to balance is another tried-and-tested method.

Listening to relaxing music and healing sounds

"Music softens the soul", but not only! Listening to soothing music or healing sounds facilitates the balancing process.
