Virtues and properties of barite in lithotherapy

Memory - Shyness - Self-confidence - Vitality - Protection - Sense of reality - Convalescence

Barite, white or any other color, is an excellent stone for the elderly, as it stimulates memory, helps recall and listen to dreams, and gives new vitality.

It helps sharpen the mind and prevents confusion.

It is also a very effective protective stone, forming a shield against spells and negative energies of a relational or environmental nature.

If you suffer from shyness, Barytine will help you come out of your shell with confidence.

The color white is linked to the fullness of life, but with interpretations that vary from culture to culture and from era to era. You'll find an overview of these symbols and all our white gemstones at this link.

Blue barite also has soothing properties, helping convalescence after shock or surgery.

Brown or golden barite enhances self-confidence.

Baryte mineralogy

One of the sulfates, this mineral can take the form of crystals or fibrous or more or less granular stones. Originating in hydrothermal environments, it is found in Europe (England, France, Germany), America (USA, Canada), Africa (Morocco) and China.

With a pearly or sometimes vitreous luster, its hue, transparency and opacity can vary according to its inclusions: barite is white in its purest state, blue when it contains copper or cobalt impurities, and can be brown, orange or pink when iron, manganese or other elements are present.
It is a fairly soft stone (3 to 3.5 on the Mohs scale).
