Cavansite
—semi-precious stones on matrix, Scolecite or Heulandite
A highly spiritual stone in crystal healing, cavansite is a rare mineral associated with soothing and revelatory energies.
By helping us understand and transform ourselves, this stone promotes higher levels of consciousness.
Its ability to help us listen to and clearly understand our dreams is one of its most notable qualities.
What are the virtues, meanings and properties of Cavansite in lithotherapy?
A symbol of spirituality and transformation
Its vibrant blue, with a lustrous, silky sheen, is what makes it so beautiful.
In crystal healing, Cavansite helps balance emotions and fosters a connection with oneself and the spiritual world.
It is a powerful tool for spiritual practices such as meditation. Its soothing vibrations promote mental clarity by revitalizing the mind and body.
It paves the way for new ideas. Its connection to higher dimensions puts negative thoughts into perspective and makes change—and any transformation that is beneficial to life—possible.
The relationship with dreams can also be transformed
Connecting with the spiritual world also means developing a new way of listening to our fears and aspirations, which manifest themselves through metaphor in the form of our ideas, in our flaws and oversights, in our dreams as well as in our daydreams.
Communicating with these images, understanding them as a message from our unknown part, is not always easy.
The states of consciousness that Cavansite fosters are like a bridge, or a way to navigate the mysteries of the mind.
You can learn more about yourself by listening to and interpreting these messages—perhaps with a piece of Cavansite on your nightstand before you go to sleep. When you wake up, its reminder will help you understand your dreams with greater clarity by bringing you closer to your imagination.
Similarly, the legend surrounding it claims that it may facilitate lucid dreaming and astral projection.
What lithotherapy properties does Cavansite have?
There is no scientific evidence of the physical benefits of cavansite in crystal healing, but esoteric traditions attribute to it the ability to aid in the healing of headaches, sore throats, and bladder and kidney ailments.
Which crystals amplify the properties of Cavansite in lithotherapy?
To enhance the effects of the stone in crystal healing, you can combine cavansite with the properties of apatite (which improves perception) and iolite (which promotes clarity and develops intuition).
Important: Regarding the hardness of cavansite and its combination with other stones and crystals
Cavansite has a hardness of 3 to 4 on the Mohs scale. As a relatively soft gemstone, it can be scratched by harder materials—such as the stones we recommend pairing with it: Apatite (5 on the same scale) and Iolite (7—as hard as quartz) can scratch your stone. We can’t stress enough how important it is to handle them with care!
Cleansing a Cavansite
Reload and clean
Exposure to the moon / gentle smudging (palo santo, sage, incense) / very brief rinsing with distilled or demineralized water / cleaning with a soft brush and a gentle air blower / breath, intention / selenite cluster / singing bowl, bell, tuning fork / form waves
Treatments to avoid
Prolonged exposure to sunlight may damage it / prolonged immersion in water—avoid hot water, detergents, steam cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, and harsh chemicals.
Note:
Be careful with specimens on a matrix of stilbite, heulandite, or other associated zeolites, as they may be much more delicate than cavansite.

Cavansite mineralogy
The name "Cavansite" is derived from its chemical composition, which combines the elements CAlcium, VANadium, and SIlicium.
This hydrated calcium vanadium silicate (with the chemical formula Ca(VO)Si₄O₁₀·4H₂O) can range from translucent to transparent.
Its color ranges from a vivid sky blue—which can be lighter or darker—to a greenish blue. The presence of vanadium accounts for its very distinctive blue color.
Its crystal system is orthorhombic, and its luster is vitreous. Its acicular—needle-shaped—crystals most often form rosette- or sphere-shaped aggregates.
It forms primarily in volcanic basalt, under high temperatures and pressures. It is found near apophyllite, heulandite, and stilbite.
Cavansite is found in India (where the most famous specimens come from), the United States, Brazil, and New Zealand.
Its hardness is 3 to 4 on the Mohs scale.
Its density is approximately 2.21 to 2.31.
