Virtues and properties of Fire Opal in lithotherapy
When everything is too rigid, when too many things are stagnant or repetitive, when too many emotions have become entrenched, use a Fire Opal to "blow it all up" and begin the great cleansing necessary to regain your innate zest for life and joy.
The energetic particularity of this Opal variety is the marriage of water and fire, two elements that, each in their own way, are great purifiers.
Water is the color of your emotions, fire is your life force, your vital energy. This stone will work on anything that prevents you from expressing or going through your emotions in a healthy way and on anything that prevents your vital energy from flowing unhindered, even if this means blowing up all your internal structures. But don't worry, it's upsetting, destabilizing, confusing, but so life-saving!
With a Fire Opal as your companion, get ready to let your life sparkle and rediscover the flame in your eyes. She'll teach you to live with spontaneity, enthusiasm and passion, casting aside the rigidity of your habits and ways of functioning.
She's an explosive, sometimes impulsive ally who encourages you to indulge yourself, to discover your zones of ecstasy, your passions, what makes you tick!
In the field of sexuality, it invites you to get rid of your habits, fears, beliefs and inhibitions, so that you can experience all the facets of a fulfilling sex life as a couple and solo and, what's more, it stimulates your libido. Torrid evenings ahead!
It is an excellent stone for healing wounds related to sexuality, an abusive partner, miscarriage, difficult childbirth or obstetric violence.
On a physical level, Fire Opal acts as a purifier of body fluids, stimulating hormone production in the adrenal glands and sexual organs. It can help regulate the menstrual cycle, soothe premenstrual syndromes and period pain, facilitate childbirth and promote fertility.
It improves skin hydration and elasticity, stimulates appetite and accelerates convalescence.
How to use a Fire Opal
- For all physical or psychological "disorders" of a sexual nature, or to heal wounds that have settled in your pelvis and to fluidify the energy in this area, do a regular treatment, relaxation or meditation with this stone placed at the level of your 2ᵉ chakra.
- To benefit from the virtues of Fire Opal on a daily basis, wear it directly on the skin for a few minutes a day, or longer if you feel the need.
- Fire Opal can work very quickly, so it's not necessary or advisable to wear it every day over the long term.
Where to place a Fire Opal?
- A Fire Opal in your living space will bring energies conducive to creativity and joie de vivre.
- You can place it on your altar in the place dedicated to the element of fire.
- In your bedroom or in bed to boost your libido.
- In your kitchen to make you want to eat good things.
Who is Fire Opal for?
- Fire Opal can be a great support for people who are too rigid, who lack open-mindedness or who lack that "little grain of madness" that makes the eyes sparkle.
- For and who find their sex life difficult.
- For people who want to find true love or spice up their lives.
How do I purify a Fire Opal?
Moon, running water, waveform, fumigation, singing bowl, wind/breath, prayers...Be careful not to expose Fire Opal to prolonged sunlight, as it may lose its color and "dry out". Although this stone has fire-like energy, it also contains a large amount of water.

Fire and waterFire Opal in mineralogy
Fire Opal is a variety of noble Opal belonging to the oxide class.
It is formed from silica-rich magmatic liquids found in volcanic rocks by a hydrothermal process that absorbs iron oxide.
It's a silicon oxide containing iron oxide and up to 20% water. Its color depends on its iron oxide content and ranges from almost colorless yellow through orange to deep red.
Like all Opals, it is "amorphous", i.e. it has no crystalline system.
Did you know?
The most sought-after Fire Opals are those with the play of color and light typical of Noble Opals. Even when this "opalescence" is absent, Fire Opal is still considered a Noble Opal.
The history of Fire Opal
The name Opal comes from the Sanskrit word upala, meaning precious stone. The name fire comes from its color, whose nuances are reminiscent of fire.
This fascinating Opal, admired and sought-after for centuries, was already known to the Aztec people. They called it Quetzalitzlipyollitli, meaning the stone of the bird of paradise, a group of different bird species with powerful symbolism for the different cultures of South America. It played an important role in various rituals and was inlaid in numerous statuettes and jewels.
The conquistadors brought this exceptionally fine Mexican Fire Opal back to Europe from the 16ᵉ century onwards. It immediately enjoyed remarkable success, not only in the world of fine jewelry, but also with writers and scientists.
In Europe, long before the conquistadors, the Greeks and Romans were already familiar with Fire Opal, which originated in present-day Turkey.
