Perhaps this has something to do with the origins of its name, which comes from the Italian word a ventura ("by chance"): in Murano, Italy, 18th-century alchemists accidentally created a glittering glass that later gave the stone its name by analogy with its brilliance.

This variety of microcrystalline quartz, which belongs to the silicate family, has a trigonal crystal structure characteristic of quartz.
The inclusion of fuchsite in its structure, a chromium-rich mica, explains its green color. Its most remarkable property isaventurescence, which causes it to sparkle with a powerful brilliance as light reflects off its inclusions.
