Lizardite
rolled gemstones and pendants in pierced stones or with 925 silver clasps
Lizardite is one of the polymorphs of Serpentine. In lithotherapy, its beautiful green color, spring-like and soothing,
speaks of its link to renewal and transformation, protection and the Earth.
What are the lithotherapy properties of Lizardite?
Lizardite symbols
Lizardite takes its name from the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, UK, where it was discovered in 1955. Its metaphysics is therefore quite recent, its beautiful luminous green color associating with its telluric origins, with eternal rebirth leaving behind the past to anchor itself through growth in the present, intimately linking nature and healing.
Virtues and benefits
In lithotherapy, it is a symbol of spiritual evolution and peace through transformation.
It's a stone of rebirth, freeing you from the stagnant and somnolent forces of the same earthly ties that prevented you from moving forward, and transforming them into anchoring forces for a new impetus.
The growth it proposes is a metaphor for spring. The new season of your life begins with introspection, opening the flowers of what was waiting to come, calming and purifying the mind as pollen perfumes the morning air.
The first effect is to stabilize moods. Bad memories take their place amidst the storms of the past, going away as it suddenly becomes clear that the past is no more. It helps angry people to step back and put things into perspective, to avoid overreacting. It encourages them to act fairly, rather than reacting without conscience.
In lithotherapy, Lizardite can be used for deep meditation to help align energies. Purifying, the stone facilitates an awakening of the spirit through the awareness that metamorphosis aspires to a rediscovered peace.
Physical effects
According to tradition, Lizardite is also used to detoxify the body, in particular the liver, kidneys and digestive system. It is also said to help reduce inflammation. To date, there is no scientific proof of these actions.
Which crystals should it be combined with to amplify its effect in lithotherapy?
In lithotherapy, other stones and crystals can be combined with Lizardite to intensify its effects:
- Combining it with Serpentine or Ophiolite will strengthen the anchoring and purification of energies.
- the addition of Howlite will help restore peace of mind and calm stress
- combine with Malachite to heal heartache.

Lizardite mineralogy
Lizardite is one of three polymorphs of Serpentine, alongside Antigorite and Chrysotile. Lizardite is distinguished by its thin-layered structure; frequently green and waxy, it occurs in compact, fibrous or finely scaly masses.
It is the result of hydrothermal metamorphosis of mafic minerals such as Olivine and Pyroxene in ultrabasic rocks.
It can be found in the United States, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, Russia and Switzerland.
Its hardness is 2.5 on the Mohs scale.
Its density is around 2.55.
