Stone symbols

The identification of peristerite and unique optical effect is relatively recent, dating back to the 19th century, when it was described by mineralogist Gustav Tschermak von Seysenegg.

Due to its iridescent luster, peristerite has been mistakenly called white labradorite (labradorite is an anorthite–albite) or confused with moonstone, which is a potassium feldspar and a plagioclase feldspar like peristerite.

The bluish or white iridescence, similar in and and , has different origins: whileadularescence originates from light interference in the former, which is rich in potassium, the schillerization of peristerite, rich in sodium and , is due to internal lamellar exsolutions specific to plagioclases.

However, like moonstone, today peristerite is linked by its lunar symbols to our and instinct. Peristerite is thus associated with the month of June in Western esoteric and traditions.
