The virtues and properties of Psilomelane in lithotherapy
The mysterious, many-formed Psilomelane sings to you the powerful song of energies from the depths of the earth. With this stone as your ally, you can feel your anchorage grow stronger and your roots grow healthier and so you can live your life with stability and verticality, come what may.
During an emotional shock or a particularly difficult period, Psilomelane can help and guide you through, teaching you not to run away from or deny your shadows and the worries that torment you.
This stone knows the wisdom of the deep, it's not afraid of shadows and it can teach you how to welcome them and live with them without losing your footing.
It also shows you what is part of your lineage, your transgenerational memories and invites you to free yourself from certain blockages linked to these memories.
It's also a wonderful protective stone, shielding you and teaching you how to protect yourself from negative energies.
On a physical level, Psilomelane is excellent when too much mucus forms, as it helps to dissolve it. Ideal for pneumonia, congested coughs and colds.

EarthPsilomelane in mineralogy
Psilomelane is most often found in the form of mamelons, manganese dendrites with other rocks (dendritic agate, for example, contains manganese dendrites) or as microcrystals. Its color is black with a metallic sheen.
It's a hydrated manganese oxide containing varying amounts of barium, calcium, magnesium and zinc.
Did you know? Psilomelane is sometimes nicknamed black Malachite. When polished, Psilomelane can show patterns similar to those of Malachite.
It's common to read that Psilomelane's other name is " Merlinite", which is not entirely accurate, as Merlinite is a nickname sometimes given to Dendritic Agate, which contains manganese dendrites (hence Psilomelane). The name Merlinite is also given to Gabbro.
