What are the lithotherapy virtues of silver obsidian?

Protection - Introspection - Welcoming emotions - Understanding and self-knowledge - Revelation - Healing emotions - Deep meditation

Lunar symbol

Silver Obsidian is an unusual variety of volcanic obsidian, with the particularity that its brilliance comes not from its crystals, but from microscopic bubbles of gas and vapour frozen in its vitreous matrix.

The mystery of its brilliance links it to the moon; its symbol is an image of the night, of the unknown, of what remains in the shadows.

Contemporary esotericism sees the silvery glow of its lunar light as a mirror of the spirit, an adjuvant helping to connect with deities of the night or feminine archetypes.

Its spiritual benefits in lithotherapy

What does it mean?

Silver Obsidian represents the link to lunar radiation, the inner worlds and the unconscious.

Its protective properties

Its protection can act when your emotions are particularly intense, enabling you to better welcome and live them through the understanding and integration of its wisdom. The stone invites you to look at the movement at work within you; to find the courage in this truth to stop hiding, feigning ignorance, sweeping dust under the carpet.

By connecting the spiritual planes to earthly reality, it can act as an energetic shield, helping to repel negative influences and toxic thoughts.

A stone of revelation

Then it's time for introspection, for clarifying the confusion and the shadows, so that the light of our innermost truths comes to us.

Meditation

Its light illuminating the depths is useful for working on oneself; for healing emotions and moving forward, also during deep meditation practices for personal development.

Mineralogy of Silver Obsidian

Silver Obsidian belongs to the tectosilicate family, although it has no crystalline structure.

This is a natural volcanic glass, where rapid cooling of the silica-rich lava has prevented crystallization. The result is a hard and brittle material with inclusions of microscopic bubbles of gas and water vapour that scatter light with an iridescent effect and varies according to the angle of observation.

This optical feature distinguishes silver Obsidian from other Obsidian varieties, such as black or gold.

It is mined mainly in Mexico, where geological conditions are particularly conducive to its formation.

Mohs scale hardness: between 5 and 6 - this is a fairly resistant stone with an intermediate hardness, typical of volcanic glass without crystalline structure.
