How to choose your wooden divinatory pendulum?

There are many uses for a wooden pendulum, including divinatory practices, working with energies, subtle bodies and much more. It's important to choose the model that's right for you: there are traditional uses, which we'll cover here, but keep in mind that what's essential for practice is your feeling and your connection to the tool.

For beginners

Dowsing involves the ability to pick up certain radiations and vibrations emitted by different bodies, to perceive and obtain information about hidden objects, and to detect terrestrial energy lines.
To begin your experiments in detecting subtle energies using the sacred geometry of a pendulum, your ideal initial approach would be to start your work with a classic wooden pendulum, in a simple and balanced form.

Wooden drop clocks

The shape of a drop pendulum, also known as a Sephoroton, allows for great precision in movement. This balance can make it easier to interpret the responses of this type of pendulum, appreciated for its sensitivity and precision.

Its manufacture from fine woods, such as rosewood, makes it suitable for dowsing to pick up subtle vibrations. It is traditionally used to locate water sources, detect earth energy lines and perform energy healing.

Egyptian wooden clocks

Inspired by amulets found in the royal tombs of the ancient Egyptian civilization, Egyptian wooden pendulums can be used for highly targeted energy work, such as chakra cleansing or energy protection.

Isis

The Isis pendulum, with its elongated shape made up of several stacked discs reminiscent of the EgyptianAnkh - the cross of life - boasts receptive properties and is used for information gathering and divination.

Thot

The Thot pendulum, influenced by theOuadj amulet, is a transmitter and receiver. It is used to charge an object or place with energy.

Osiris

Based on the golden ratio, the Osiris pendulum is mainly used for its emitting properties, and therefore for energy healing.

Clocks with inlays

Personal use and connections with a pendulum play a major role in practice. Esoterically speaking, it's the tool that chooses its master. A wooden pendulum with inlays symbolizes an appropriation. A personalized pendulum with engravings or semi-precious stones can reinforce a connection with the user and enhance its effectiveness in energy healing or chakra work.

How do I use a wooden divinatory pendulum?

  • You have to hold it between your thumb and forefinger
  • in a relaxed state, tame it by turning it right or left
  • for practice, try making it follow a spiral line traced on a piece of paper.
  • When you feel relaxed, learn to communicate with him: ask him to say yes - look to see if he turns left or right; when he does, he'll say yes. The other way round, it'll be no.
  • as you gain experience with this connection, its oscillations will become more and more meaningful to you.
  • Thank the pendulum after each answer.

Purifying a pendulum
Before use, choose one of the following :

  • Blowing on the pendulum to purify it
  • run it under running water
  • place it on a symbol related to sacred geometry (e.g. a mandala)
  • wrap it in a cloth and place it inside a singing bowl to be sung.
