What are the symbols and benefits of grey stone?

The balance

Gray can signify a humble or dignified presence, or both. The fruit of two opposing colors, in the middle of the symbols of black and white, gray acts as a pivot, guaranteeing balance, compromise and neutrality, in a position reminiscent of the symbols of justice: impartiality is fair and makes the world stable.
In Africa, it's the color of stability and security. In China, it's the color of humility and of that which is tarnished.
But in a ceremony, or manual labor, gray says mature seriousness, practical, professional, reliable know-how.

At the risk of blandness

The sober nature of the color gray can also symbolize indecision, alienation, flat boredom. Gray can be synonymous with conformism, blindness, uniform thinking or a bland personality. Gloom and depression are sometimes associated with gray, whether in meteorology, psychology or economics.

Everything in nuance

Gray, which pays the price for its modesty, doesn't always get good press. However, it goes well with many colors and the message is effective:

To soften or brighten, a pale or light gray will work well with black for contrast, with white for clean lines, or with an equally pale pink for a soothing effect.

A combination of neutrality and adventurous spirit: a medium grey is the perfect accompaniment to a green that's neither too light nor too dark.

Darker shades of grey offer more contrast and a more serious impression.

Grey goes wonderfully well with taupe or yellow for warmth. With red for a more vibrant touch, or with blue for a cool-toned harmony.

Choosing or adding its shades can create beautiful color palettes. It's a flexible color, to say the least! But it will always speak the distance that separates it from black and white, reconciling them with freshness and compromise, in all diplomacy and elegance.

The power of grey in lithotherapy

In lithotherapy, the color gray is strongly associated with stability, neutrality and balance, which it accompanies by liberating and harmonizing energy flows in the body.
Many of them are protective stones against negative influences. The practice affirms two major actions of fine grey stones: on the one hand, they absorb negative energies, and on the other, they promote lucidity of heart and mind. As a result, we are better able to make decisions.
Gray can be a symbol of wisdom and maturation. Grey stones, such as Smoky Quartz or Howlite, are highly soothing and can be used to accompany meditation and any honest conversation with oneself.

Mineralogy of grey gemstones

The gray color of a gem or mineral can have various scientific explanations:

Color can be a constituent and occur on the surface of a mineral in its pure state.

Mineral inclusions and impurities can darken the appearance of a crystal.

Chemical composition may explain its gray color. It may be rich in hydrogen atoms, for example.

Grey can also be perceived as such through an optical phenomenon called Schiller, caused by the path of photons of light in stone.

Finally, the stone may have been treated.
