Its light blue-green color is due to the iron contained in this variety of beryl, a silicate derived from magmatic or metamorphic rocks. Its translucent or transparent crystals have a beautiful brilliance: Aquamarine, sometimes large in size, is rather hard (7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale). Not to be confused with sapphire or topaz.
Its origins are multiple: Brazil, Africa and Central Asia.
