Kûrma worldart : from dream to reality

Kûrma worldart is much more than a stone and mineral boutique. It's a story, the story of a traveler who encounters the world of stones, craftsmanship and the opportunity to open up the field of possibilities. It's a story of love, encounters and discoveries It's a seed that grows and a tree It's a family learning to create together It's dreams and passions And always with a touch of magic and a taste of freedom

When travel shapes and transforms

It all started in 2012 while I was in India, where I followed the call of Nepal instead of my ticket back to Switzerland. And it was at the foot of the Himalayas that, as I met new people, I began creating macramé jewelry. I was amazed by the beauty and diversity of the semi-precious stones I used to adorn my creations. That's when I felt something germinate inside me, a seed of an idea, a seed of a project. It had the taste of adventure and the fragrance of dreams: Make a living from my craft, be independent, have my own business

When everything fit in my backpack

Continuing my journey from the mountains of Ladakh in India to Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, in this energy of discovery and possibility, I created my first jewelry collection and met lapidaries who introduced me to the fascinating world of semi-precious stones. It was in New Zealand and Australia that I set up my first market stalls, improvised with cardboard boxes and fabrics found along the way. I returned to Nepal, a country that had amazed me with the richness and beauty of its local crafts. With my savings, I bought statues of divinities, singing bowls and prayer flags before returning to Switzerland to sell these treasures and my creations on the markets, for a summer and a few months in Israel.

The Birth of Kûrma

In March 2015, my seed has grown, it's ready to bloom and I'm delighted to officially create my company: Kûrma worldart, the artistic world of the turtle. Kûrma is the avatar of the god Vishnu, who takes on the appearance and characteristics of a tortoise in the Hindu myth of the creation of the world. In summer, my stand grows, evolves and unfolds in markets, festivals and wellness fairs. In winter, I return to Nepal and India to meet local artisans from whom I buy and bring back many treasures. It's important to me to work ethically, respecting people and the environment. I'm putting a stop to macramé creations and choosing to offer a wide variety of natural semi-precious stones and singing bowls of exceptional quality on my stands.

A beautiful family story

In 2016, Aurore joined the adventure and brought her creativity, innovative ideas and solid knowledge of lithotherapy and geobiology to Kûrma , which has become a family business growing at the same pace as our family.

The birth of the online store

At the beginning of 2020 we decided to create an online store, and it was a really great idea! Even if we had to learn a lot of new skills to make it happen and persevere despite the many obstacles, it's what got Kûrma through the crisis. Find out more about the history of the online store... By the end of 2022, the online store is up and running and just after the birth of our 5th child we decide to stop trading so we can enjoy our weekends with the family.

Kûrma today

Today, in addition to the two of us, Kûrma worldart has a team of 4 employees to keep the store running smoothly and with over 5,000 items in stock and more than 350 different stone varieties.
