The story behind the creation of the online store

A crazy adventure

2021 It's been a crazy year, a colorful, eventful, swirling madness and this January Kûrma blows out the second candle of its online boutique! And that's worth a little retrospective on how far we've come!

Kûrma was born of travels, a backpack, macramé threads, beautiful cabochon-cut stones, treasures and improvised stands on the other side of the world, but I'll tell you about that part later.

The story I'm sharing with you today begins two years ago, in January 2020. Bertrand had a flash in his head that went round and round like a flashing light, shouting "create an online store now! So he immersed himself in the world of Internet creation, learning code, drinking code, eating code, sleeping code, dreaming code, like a Geek superhero in a dense and merciless jungle where only the most relentless resist.

In the evenings, with my newborn baby clinging to me like a koala, I typed. Too early in the mornings, bouncing on a gym ball to calm baby koala, Bertrand typed code.

During the day, he was learning about photography, backlinks, SEO and whole lot of other barbaric stuff, while I was reconciling myself with spelling, syntax, conjugation and other peculiarities that only the language of Molière can boast (it's still a long way off, but it's getting better all the time).

From one day to the next, nothing...

And then there was that famous confinement. No more market, no more stores and very little support. In this month of March 2020, our brand-new online boutique, in the very early stages of its creation and development, would become the sole income for us and our 4 children.

Bertrand stopped sleeping, even though baby Koala wasn't sleeping.

We developed superpowers enabling us to be parents, teachers, web managers, marketing experts, designers, photographers, cooks, housekeepers, researchers, accountants and magicians. Days had to last at least 48 hours!

Months went by with website bugs, crazy new ideas, new solutions, headaches, joys and here we are today with a real company that counts, in addition to the two of us, 4 brilliant collaborators to run an online store with over 5000 different items in stock.
