What are the healing properties of a lapis lazuli menhir in crystal healing?

Protective stone – Connection to intuition – Transformation of the mind – Self-discovery – Expression and communication – Creativity

Crafted from a metamorphic stone whose properties have been recognized for thousands of years in traditional practices, a lapis lazuli menhir invites you to undergo transformation and embark on a creative journey in crystal healing.

Because of their size, lapis lazuli menhirs are sure to radiate their energy and bring harmony to the rooms where they are placed.

Just like the deep, shimmering blue that evokes a starry sky, your lapis lazuli menhir guides you into the depths of your inner self—where your true self awaits, far from the judgment of others.

It is a stone that opens the doors to the realm of intuition. Paradoxically, discovering oneself in order to connect with one’s true nature is a quest that opens one’s eyes to the world. Don’t they say that no man is an island?

The stone will be your companion on your journey toward transformation. Change—if it is a quest for authenticity—means letting go of fears and prejudices to surrender to enlightening truths, the very ones that stimulate imagination and creativity.

A lapis lazuli menhir is also an effective companion stone for those who practice shamanic journeying. As a stone connected to the subtle plane, tradition holds that it prevents one from getting lost.

Mineralogy of Your Lapis Lazuli Menhir

Its intense blue color has fascinated many cultures since ancient times—some artifacts and pieces of jewelry from the Indus Valley have been dated to more than 8,000 years ago.

Lapis lazuli is a metamorphic rock formed from silica-rich carbonate rocks and composed of silicates such as lazurite—a sulfide feldspathoid belonging to the sodalite group. Its composition also includes minerals such as calcite, pyrite, wollastonite, diopside, and potassium feldspar.

Lazurite, the main silicate component of lapis lazuli, contains sulfur in the form of sulfide radicals. Its blue color stems from the presence of these sulfur ions, which affect the way light is absorbed. Its pyrite inclusions give the rock a distinctive, sparkling appearance. And calcite gives it its white streaks.

The highest-quality deposits are found in Afghanistan, particularly in Badakhshan, where this mineral has been mined for over 7,000 years. It can also be sourced from Chile and, to a lesser extent, from Russia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the United States, and Canada.

Lapis lazuli was used to create ultramarine pigment, which was highly prized by Renaissance artists.

It remains a highly sought-after stone in gemology and archaeology today. Its hardness on the Mohs scale is 5–5.5.
