What are the lithotherapy properties of a Malachite stone?

Protection - Change/transformation - Emotional healing - Energy release - Self-esteem

Meanings and virtues

Its strata of intense green patterns reflect the levels of our consciousness, with some aspects coming into the open, and others, murky and mysterious, may seem foggy or resolutely unknown.

Yet it's important to know ourselves. This quest is the path to awakening the spirit, which at certain painful moments in life, or at turning points along our path, presents itself as an inevitable path.

A stone rolled in Malachite can then be a companion to help us shed light on what has hitherto remained in the shadows.

Lurking in the darkness, this unknown part of ourselves demands its share of recognition. To put an end to suffering. To reconcile the contradictions between the idea we have of ourselves and what we really are.

The stone can help you release your emotions. Firstly, by putting into perspective what belongs to you. Because, alas, we don't all inherit light! Repression and guilt are all too often the result of looking at things in a way that isn't really ours. To be able to look at ourselves with our own eyes is a task in itself.

A rolled Malachite invites you to gain a new perspective on what you may have overlooked or despised, to overcome the anxiety of discovering yourself as an Other. To revisit oppositions, the source of inner conflicts. It can be complicated and harrowing, but ultimately, and perhaps unexpectedly, rewarding as it brings to light the fact that this force of awakening is what really matters.

In contrast to petrifying fear, the transformation of the mind revitalizes thought and words. Lucidity is a release of what was contained, and as such recreates a link with your essence through action. In lithotherapy, Malachite provides support and protection, enabling you to rediscover your inner self. Restoring your self-esteem also means restoring a balanced, equal relationship with others.

On a physical level

On the physical level, there's no scientific proof of Malachite's action; however, tradition and reputation grant it effective pain-relieving powers. It is said to act particularly on inflammations such as arthritis, arthrosis and rheumatism. It is also said to relieve painful menstruation and childbirth, or even heartache.

How do you use rolled Malachite in lithotherapy?

It can be used every day in your pocket. For treatment/against physical pain, by placing it on the inflamed area.

It needs frequent recharging. Be careful, however, not to immerse it in water, as ingestion is toxic and the stone could be damaged. Malachite's color and brilliance can be altered by contact with water or the acidity of perspiration.

The effect of Malachite in lithotherapy can be amplified by certain stones and crystals. For example :

Notes on the mineralogy of your rolled Malachite stone

Formed by the oxidation of copper by carbonic acid-rich water infiltration, Malachite is a copper hydrocarbonate. Azurite can be transformed into Malachite by absorbing water. Azurite is likely to be found alongside Malachite.

Its magnificent, concentrically layered shades of green are revealed when polished.

It is mined mainly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia, Namibia, Australia and the United States.

Mohs hardness scale: 3.5 to 4. Relatively fragile and does not appreciate being soaked in water.

Its density varies between 3.6 and 4.0.
