Composed of calcium-rich plagioclase and pyroxene, with occasional traces of olivine and hornblende, Gabbro or Merlinite is an intrusive igneous rock, a basalt that makes up much of the seabed.
Its hardness on the Mohs scale is between 6 and 6.5 - a relatively hard stone.
