Basalt

A volcanic stone derived from cooled rock magma, black, brown, more or less red or gray basalt is a semi-precious stone used in hot-stone massage sessions. In lithotherapy, it is a stone of anchorage and transformation.

The properties and benefits of Basalt in lithotherapy

Transformation - Fire - Anchoring - Courage - Present moment

Molten at the Earth's origins, volcanic rocks have since cooled on its surface. At its heart, a magma remains. What better metaphor could there be for what has been accomplished and the transformations that shape our path? Alchemy made no mistake, seeing in the magma of the athanor both the benefits of our anchorage in the earth and our potential for evolution.

To be anchored in the earth is to remain confident in its prosperity. But the warmth of the volcano's stone also has the virtue of stimulating our liberation instinct to renew itself endlessly, in the image of the new forms that energy gives us by purifying us of negative forces over and over again. It's because life is a cycle that we can learn to overcome difficulties.

Basalt mineralogy

It is a volcanic stone that once cooled rapidly on the surface of our planet, presenting a vitreous appearance that is more or less transparent or opaque due to the fine crystals of which it is composed. It is fairly hard (6 on the Mohs scale), containing mainly silica and alkaline oxides. This rock of the silicate group may also contain a number of minerals and different inclusions, depending on its terrestrial or oceanic origin.
