Nickelite / Nickelite / Niccolite
gemstones, rolled stones

Nickelite is a mineral composed mainly of arsenic and nickel.
In lithotherapy, its properties are protective and stimulating for both mind and emotions.

What are the meanings and virtues of Nickelite in lithotherapy?

Mental clarity - Creativity - Willpower - Energy protection

Origin of stone symbols

Devil's copper, "kupfernickel". That's what German miners called this stone that looked like copper, but produced none when melted. Nickel", a mischievous spirit, seemed to deceive them through trickery and illusion.

In contemporary esotericism, its reputation as a deceptive stone has shifted to qualities that reveal the truth that lies hidden; and to properties that are capable of transformation, as well as protection against negative energies.

Dangers of Nickelamine

Due to its composition (3.9% arsenic, 56.1% nickel, with traces of antimony, iron, cobalt and sulfur), Nickeline should not be ingested. Prolonged skin contact should be avoided. Likewise, avoid moisture, heat or friction that could alter its surface.

Nickelite contains arsenic, a toxic element, and nickel, a recognized allergen. In lithotherapy, Nickelite should be placed in a cloth pouch to avoid contact with the skin - and ideally handled with gloves.

Properties and virtues

On the mental level, Nickelite is used in lithotherapy to promote clarity of mind. Its symbolism of cunning makes it an ideal aid for extricating oneself from illusions and discovering and assimilating facts as they are, with complete lucidity.

With regard to emotions, its protective value symbolizes ethical deception; like an evil spirit on the side of good, revealing lies and emotional manipulation, the stone acts to protect the wearer from harmful energies.

Its metal and copper color signify the determination and perseverance of a strengthened will, ready to defend its interests, but also a vital, intuitive energy, linked to inspiration that stimulates creativity.

Nickel mineralogy

Nickelite is a metallic mineral of the arsenide group (nickel arsenide).

It crystallizes in the hexagonal system (four axes, three in a 120° plane, one vertical; its angles are 90° between the vertical axis and the others).

Its hues are pale coppery red, sometimes blackish. It is opaque, with a conchoidal fracture.

Its crystal structure is dihexagonal dipyramidal, with strong pleochroism in reflected light - an optical property that causes it to display different colors depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

When heated (to be avoided), it gives off a garlic odor, due to the presence of arsenic.

It is found in metalliferous veins containing nickel, copper and silver, especially in Germany (Saxony), and Canada (Ontario).

Its hardness ranges from 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale.
