Discovered near the town of Kimberley, South Africa (from which it takes its name), Kimberlite is a stone composed of Olivine, Diopside and Phlogopite, the proportions of which will determine its hardness (it's a pretty hard stone, between 6 and 7 on the Mohs scale).
It forms more than 150 km underground and gushes to the surface when volcanoes erupt, carrying with it a small amount of diamonds.
