What are the lithotherapy virtues of a Lapis lazuli stone?

Protection - Intuition - Transformation - Wisdom - Communication

Its first traces in human cultures date back thousands of years. The Sumerians attributed to it the power to protect against evil, the Egyptians saw in it a symbol of infinity and immortality, and for the Celts it was a talisman. These are just a few examples of Lapis lazuli's prodigious presence throughout history, its use as a spiritually charged adornment seemingly spanning ages and eras.

Artistic and spiritual symbols

If stone was used to create jewelry, ritual objects and palaces in antiquity, modernity is not to be outdone; its use in the creation of an ultramarine blue with multiple virtues in painting testifies to its great value for artists and craftsmen right up to the present day.

Its aesthetic virtues are accompanied by transformative qualities that assist the metamorphoses of the spirit in lithotherapy. In working with matter, the creator also sculpts his spirit. And Lapis lazuli's spiritual energies seem to lend themselves perfectly to this: the stone's symbols are an invitation to listen to intuition, to open the mind in search of coherent balance, justice and authentic living.

Lapis lazuli accompanies those seeking to transform themselves through changes in their relationship with themselves and the world. Fleeing deception and lies - first and foremost those we make to ourselves - setting off on a journey in search of an intimate part of ourselves that has remained in the shadows, enthroning that which was unjustly despised, gives full power to the creative faculties to approach wisdom and the right gesture.

By helping you to escape the gaze and judgment of others, the stone accompanies you on the path to authenticity. Your actions can then free you from a conflictual and purely reactive relationship to others' position, distancing you from competition, resentment, shyness or the desire for power, defects among others that can then be apprehended if they are identified as the embodiment of wounds of the spirit, and thus as material to be elaborated, cleansed and sublimated.

A sense of freedom and a sharpened sense of beauty will await the person who takes his or her place on the throne.

Mineralogy of your rolled Lapis Lazuli

A metamorphic rock of tertiary formation, this mineral is composed of aluminum silicate, sulfur, sodium and impurities. Marble or Calcite account for the white parts of the stone, Pyrite for its golden dots.

The best-quality lapis lazuli comes from Afghanistan, with Chile the second-largest producer. Other minor deposits are found in Canada, the United States, Burma and Russia.

This is a stone to be treated with care, as it is moderately resistant: its hardness ranges from 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale.

Beware of fakes
Fake lapis lazuli is not uncommon. Most of the time, these are blue-dyed stones or synthetic pieces.
