A mineral of the silicate group, Bronzite is a mix of iron and magnesium silicate.
Transparent or translucent, it has a vitreous to semi-metallic sheen and metallic bronze reflections, in addition toan interesting pleochroism: as a result of this phenomenon, the perception of its color will vary according to the light and the point of view, ranging from yellow to brown.
Bronzite forms in magmatic rocks (in Brazil), but is also found in metamorphic rocks (e.g., in the Austrian Alps), where it is formed following the transformation of Enstatite by pressure and high temperatures. It is also found on every continent outside Oceania, in Madagascar, South Africa and Sri Lanka, and in countries as dissimilar as Rwanda and Argentina.
