Part of the tectosilicate class of plagioclase feldspars, composed of sodium and calcium, with silicon and aluminum, Labradorite is mainly found in pegmatites and gabbros.
Gray or white Labradorite displays blue, green, yellow, gold and violet iridescence, which results from the diffraction of light on its inner lamellae.
This is a rather hard stone: its hardness ranges from 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.
