Discover the benefits and virtues of Yoni or Jade eggs

Sacred feminine - Connection - Sexuality - Healing - Vital energy - Fertility - Body awareness and recognition

What is the meaning and origin of the Yoni egg?

Yoni egg practice has its origins in Taoism, the foundation of Chinese medicine and philosophy. They were traditionally calledJade eggsbecause they were originally made from jade and their use was taught in the palaces to queens and concubines. This practice then spread to the East and, more recently, to the West.

The egg itself has a strong symbolic value, linked to life, fertility, rebirth and feminine energy.

"Yoni" is a feminine name derived from Sanskrit. In Hinduism, it represents the whole of the womb (not just the vulva and vagina) which, associated with the lingam, symbolizes creative power and vital energy (chi in Chinese medicine).

Why use a stone Yoni egg? What are its effects?

The practice of the Yoni egg allows you to get to know yourself and your body better, thanks to greater attention to your sensations and

It is beneficial on all levels:

  • Physical : toning the perineum and vital energy
  • Emotional : healing wounds related to the feminine and sexuality
  • Spiritual: connecting with the sacred feminine

Honouring your womb as a whole and taking care of your perineum is fundamental to :

  • Awaken your energy, your sexual and creative power and welcome them
  • Increase your pleasure and presence in the field of sexuality and sensuality. Whether during penetration or foreplay, alone or with your partner
  • Tame and get to know this part of your body better
  • Better lubrication, as the egg stimulates the Bartolin glands inside the vagina
  • Greater libido
  • Healing your sexual wounds/memories
  • Free your matrix from tension caused by stress or emotional difficulties
  • Rediscover and fully trust your potential in connection with your feminine energies
  • Stimulate your fertility (in the broadest sense, not just for pregnancy, but also for the fertility of your dreams and projects)
  • Reduce and soothe disorders related to the menstrual cycle (pain, spm, menorrhagia, irregularity...) or menopause (lack of lubrication, pain, night sweats...).
  • Recovering and honoring your body after 40 days postpartum
  • Taking care of your pelvic floor and preventing bladder weakness and organ descent
  • Benefit from the virtues and teachings of natural semi-precious stones

This list is not exhaustive and as each person has a different sensitivity and history, you may discover other benefits as and practice.

Which Yoni egg to choose?

Yoni eggs are available both pierced (with a hole for attaching a thread) and unpierced.

The pierced Yoni egg to which you can attach a thread (disposable floss is ideal) is easier to extract from your vagina. It's perfect if you're just starting out, or if you're afraid you won't be able to remove it. Of course, you can also use it without attaching a thread.

Unperforated Yoni eggs are a little more difficult to handle, as you may have to be more attentive to your senses to extract it from your vagina.

How to choose the right size Yoni egg?

We offer Yoni eggs in 3 different sizes in our store. The size you choose depends on various criteria, such as how advanced you are in this practice, your sexual activity, whether or not you're menopausal, your needs, and whether or not you've already given birth vaginally.

A size S egg is lighter and smaller, so more vaginal tone is needed to hold it in place. If there's a possibility of loosening (childbirth(s), menopause, little sexual activity, etc.), this egg is a priori too small. It's ideal for young women, whether virgins or not, who want to discover their bodies, or for any woman who's having trouble with penetration and sexuality in general.

An M-sized egg is suitable for most women, whether or not they've had a child or children naturally.

A size L egg is larger and heavier, ideal for women who want to "feel it better" in the vagina and who have already experienced Yoni egg practice with the smaller size. Because of its weight, it is not recommended for women with relaxed uterine muscles, especially in an upright position. It's also not the right size for girls with sexual trauma or those who have not yet experienced intercourse.

Which stone to choose for a Yoni egg?

Yoni eggs are available in a variety of semi-precious stones. The choice of stone is a matter of lithotherapy(stone medicine) and depends on your wishes and needs.

Agate Yoni egg: Agate is a particularly soft and pleasant stone to the touch, and equally beneficial for everything to do with the element of water and the emotional (fluidity, welcoming and recognition of emotions, lubrication, suppleness of tissues...).

Amethyst Yoni egg: with an Amethyst Yoni egg, you're invited to connect with your spirituality and the teachings of the great goddesses. A stone of great serenity, Amethyst can also help you relax in times of stress and tension.

Aventurine Yoni egg : Aventurine teaches you to overcome your fears so you can open the door to the field of possibilities and let yourself be surprised by everything that comes your way when you dare. It's the stone to choose if you lack self-confidence.

Rock crystal yoni egg : Rock crystal is suitable for all approaches. It's a stone that carriesa beautiful healing light and you can use it with the right intention.

Carnelian Yoni egg: the use of a Carnelian Yoni egg is particularly recommended to reactivate the energy in your pelvis, your sacred cauldron. It's the stone to use if you lack energy, libido or creativity, or if you wish to increase your fertility (in the broadest sense). Carnelian is also indicated if you have wounds or blockages related to sexuality.

Obsidian Yoni egg: if you choose an Obsidian Yoni egg, it's because you're ready to engage in a process of introspection with the aim of deep healing. Obsidian is a powerful stone that requires commitment and a real desire for self-knowledge, with all that this path implies. Beware, Obsidian can be far too energetic for some people, especially internally, so tame it first before placing it in your vagina.

Rose Quartz Yoni egg: softness, love and comfort are the words that best define this stone. With a Rose Quartz Yoni egg, you'll benefit from the gentle energy you need to get in touch with this area of your body. It's the ideal stone to start practicing the Yoni egg. It is particularly suitable for beginners, women seeking loving energy, women who have suffered sexual trauma or injury, gynecological violence or any other event that may have affected this part of their body.

It's also a wonderful stone for cell regeneration, so take care of any scratches or scars you may have from childbirth (be sure to wait until there's no more post-partum bleeding before inserting your egg).

Rhodonite Yoni egg: an ideal stone for learning to love oneself and one's body. It's also a wonderful anti-stress stone, welcome when there's too much tension impacting the matrix and the whole pelvic area, and in case of emotional shock.

How to use a Yoni egg? Recommendations, practices, contraindications and cleansing

There are many things you can do (or not do) with your Yoni eggs and it can be hard to find your way around, especially if some of them are more harmful than others. My advice is to start by experimenting with simple practices that make sense for you, preferably in the reclining position (see below).

How to insert and remove a Yoni "Jade" egg?

Before using your egg, make sure it's been properly cleaned, relax, and when you feel ready, insert it into your vagina (no need to push it all the way into your cervix) with the base of the egg first (i.e. the widest part).

To remove a Yoni egg more easily, you can crouch down. If your egg has a string, gently pull on it to invite it out. If your egg has no string, use your muscles to push it out.

If you still can't do it, it may be that your muscles lack tone or, on the contrary, are hypertonic and "frozen" - in which case take the time to relax by breathing "into your perineum" and use your fingers to retrieve your egg. If you still can't do it, don't stress, it's not serious! Just stand for a while, go about your business and try again.

What exercises/experiments can I do with a Yoni egg?

The practice of the yoni egg is a process that takes place over time and needs to be done consciously to be effective.

Tame your egg

Before doing any specific exercises, I advise you to start by getting to know your egg and getting to know it by placing it on your belly during moments of relaxation. This can be a valuable time to clarify your objective(s) by asking yourself the question: "What do I want for myself by using a Yoni egg?" Your answer will help you set your intention clearly and communicate it to your body and your egg.

A time of gentle intimacy - a ritual to welcome the egg into yourself

When you feel ready, offer yourself some time of intimacy with your egg in a space where you can be comfortable and undisturbed. Start by arranging your space as you wish (candles, music, incense...), lie down and consciously insert your egg inside your vagina, listening to every sensation. Once you've placed your egg, lie back, think about your intention and breathe calmly, relaxing every part of your body.

When you feel perfectly relaxed, place your intention at the heart of your womb and breathe "with your vagina" (imagine it's your vagina that's breathing) to relax all the muscles of your perineum without forcing or contracting anything, for as long as you like (as long as you feel good).

If you feel ready, you can contract your perineum slightly on the exhale, without forcing and release on the exhale.

Before removing your egg, thank your body and your stone for this experience.

You can practice this experience as often as you like, no matter how intentional your practice.

Hypertonic perineum and excess tension

The above experience is also recommended if you have a hypertonic perineum and to relax your perineum and your entire matrix in case of accumulated tension in this area (stress, overwork, emotional difficulties/injuries...).

Muscle your perineum

If your perineum lacks tone (you notice it if you have bladder weakness when you cough or laugh, or if you have trouble tightening the muscles in this area), you can practice exercises with the help of your egg. If your perineum is "too" toned, try relaxation exercises which will relax and eliminate tension in your perineum and give you more sensation.)

To strengthen your perineum, you can use your egg to do exercises such as Kegel exercises. There are many videos and blogs on the net, so choose what inspires you and makes sense for you. But be careful, never force yourself: the aim is certainly not to hurt yourself!

What are the contraindications and precautions to be taken when using the Yoni egg?

Can a Yoni egg be worn during menstruation and pregnancy?

It's not advisable to wear a Yoni egg during menstruation, pregnancy and the immediate postpartum period (as long as there's still bleeding), as there's already a lot of energy circulating in this area - but there's nothing to stop you putting your egg on your belly for a moment of relaxation.

How long can you wear a Yoni egg?

Wearing a Yoni egg all day can cause problems. Indeed, its weight and gravity can relax pelvic tissues (thus having the opposite effect to that intended) and , more rarely, cause toxic shock syndrome (yes, like tampons and the moon cup).

Practising the Yoni egg is much more effective if done consciously. Wearing an egg while doing anything else doesn't allow you to listen to your feelings.

I have an IUD. Can I wear a Yoni egg?

Some gynecologists consider the practice of the Yoni egg incompatible with wearing an IUD. Rest assured, there's no risk of the threads of your IUD getting caught in your egg. However, if your egg isn't properly cleaned, there's a greater risk of vaginal infection (the same goes for sex toys).

In case of gynecological disorders, problems or pathologies?

If you have gynaecological problems, ask your doctor for advice on using a Yoni egg internally.

Other precautions

Your egg should never weigh more than 110gr to avoid damage to your perineum.

Caution! Not all stone eggs can come into contact with skin and mucous membranes. Some stones are highly toxic! So don't insert eggs from Auntie's old stone collection into your vagina without knowing which stone it is.

Your egg must be thoroughly cleaned before and after each use. See below.

Jade egg or Yoni egg cleansing

For reasons of hygiene and to avoid any risk of vaginal or urinary infection or mycosis, your egg must be cleaned before and after each use. You can use water, soap and alcohol without risk to the stone.

If your egg is pierced, spray alcohol inside the hole and scrub with a very small brush (like those used to clean stainless steel straws) and use a new thread each time you use it.

For energetic cleansing (the stones need to be purified), you can run your egg under running water (spring water is ideal if you have some nearby), place it on a flower of life, or place it outside under the moon and in the wind. There are many other techniques, so choose the one that makes the most sense for you. Find out more about stone purification on our blog here.
