The virtues and properties of Amber in lithotherapy

Warmth - Joy - Optimism - Lightness - Ancestral values - Creativity - Anti-depression - Protection - Success - Comfort - Convalescence

What is the significance of Amber?

Its significance comes from a mythical past. Amber represents solar radiation and, in all ancestral traditions, it symbolizes the power of protection, prosperity, joy, well-being and luck.

What are its benefits?

Amber is the gentle sunshine of fresh mornings, the warmth of a campfire, the sparkle in the eyes of a happy and carefree child. Its virtues are linked to light and hope, a source of joy, lightness and optimism.

It will be your ally of choice to guide you through the storms of your life or the fogs of gloom, bringing you the comfort and courage you need to find your light, your inner fire of life. So, when you lack motivation, when you're depressed, when you don't feel like doing anything, when you've lost all hope, when you see everything in black and grey or when you're lonely, listen and feel the wisdom of Amber.

Let her gentle sunshine inspire you when you lack self-confidence, when your shyness imprisons you or when luck seems to be on your side.

And when nothing makes sense to you anymore and your questions remain unanswered, Amber can guide you in your "quest for meaning" by reconnecting you to ancestral wisdoms so that you can integrate them and use them as resources to guarantee your stability. And if your emotions take their toll on you, if frustration or anger set you on fire, if sadness drowns you or your fears chill and freeze you, Amber can help you to calm down and reharmonize your life energies, your inner fire.

What are Amber's physical properties?

Among its best-known properties, Amber is reputed to relieve teething pains in babies and young children, as well as joint and muscle pains in children and adults.

It can have a beneficial effect on the respiratory tract and is well-suited to asthma, coughs and bronchitis.

It has been used for thousands of years to help heal digestive system disorders such as ulcers.

How to use Amber

  • To relieve teething pain, an Amber necklace is ideal. At night, a piece of Amber can be placed under the sheet or mattress.
  • Natural Amber can be placed in drinking water to benefit from its emotional and physical virtues.
  • Amber is worn for long periods, ideally on the skin as close as possible to the solar plexus.
  • During healing, relaxation or visualization sessions, it is best placed on the solar plexus or just below the navel.

Amber in mineralogy, composition, formation and particularities

Amber is a fossilized resin dating from over a million to 190 million years ago, and mostly comes from lush forests in swampy areas covered over time by layers of rock. During the sedimentation process, the resin dehydrated and the organic molecules oxidized, creating this kind of "organic rock".

Amber is amorphous. That is, it has no crystalline system and its shapes are random depending on the environment in which it has flowed. It is composed of a mixture of alcohols, aldehydes, esters, isoprenes and various terpenes and traces of hydrogen sulfide.
Some pieces of amber contain twigs, water or gas bubbles, but the most sought-after by collectors are those containing insects (inclusion amber).

Amber is very light and of low hardness, with a waxy appearance and its colors are black, yellow, orange, brown, white and sometimes red.

Did you know?

Only 20% of natural Amber is clear and translucent; the majority of natural Amber is opaque and dark.

Amber is often imitated using synthetic resins melted in molds.

Pieces of natural Amber are often made from Amber resin powder or fragments that have been heated, melted and pressed with other substances such as oils or other natural or synthetic resins. This is very often the case for Amber used in jewelry, and does not prevent it from having a "certificate of authenticity".

Dark and opaque pieces of natural Amber are often lightened and made translucent by various heating techniques.

Where to find Amber?

The best-known and most widespread isBaltic Amber, 30 - 50 million years old. But it is also found in the Caribbean, Spain, Canada, Lebanon, Mexico, Indonesia, Sicily, Romania and Jordan.

The history of amber and its legends

Amber (a name derived from the Arabic Al ambar ) has been used in jewelry, as a talisman and for its healing properties since the dawn of time, in all 4 corners of the world. Objects sculpted in Amber date back to prehistoric times.

In Scandinavia, Amber was said to be the tears of the goddess of love, Freya, and in some regions, the spindles of Scandinavian women were adorned with Amber to spread protection in the clothes they made for their sons and husbands.

In the Far East, it represented the soul of the tiger and was worn as a talisman for courage.

In ancient Rome, this fossilized resin was associated with eternal youth.

The Greeks named this stone elektron for its electrostatic properties and Hippocrates used it for various treatments.

In the Middle Ages, amber-based remedies were developed to cure stomach aches, ulcers and urinary pain. It was called "La Ligurite".

The origin of Amber according to the famous poet Ovid :

When the Heliads were transformed into Alder and Poplar, they continued to mourn their brother Phateon. To save them, their mother stripped the bark from their bodies, but the girls begged her to stop and their tears turned to Amber.

The symbolic origin of Amber according to the texts of Hildegarde von Binden :

"Amber is born from lynx urine, and
any other. For the lynx is not a lustful animal,
debauched and impure, but possesses a balanced
temperament. Its strength is so great that it can even penetrate
through stones; its eyes are piercing and it rarely
rarely loses his sight. But this stone only comes from his urine
only if the sun is burning and the air is light, soft and
warm. " ..... " When this urine is released,
it then solidifies to give this stone, so that the solidification
so that the solidification of this beautiful stone, which
which is the softest of all stones, takes place in the earth.
the earth."

Myth about the origin of Amber taken up by Hildegarde de
Binden 850 years ago. Excerpt from the book
according to Hildegarde de Binden".
