Green Calcite
gemstones, pendants, rolled stones
Calcite 's green color comes from impurities in its structure, such as copper, iron or nickel.
In lithotherapy, it can be a tool for extracting ourselves from blinding thoughts that hinder our connection to our emotions, as well as a lucid view of any situation.
What are the spiritual virtues of green calcite in lithotherapy?
Symbol origins
Calcite was used in ancient times to create amulets, decorative objects and spiritually charged jewelry.
In ancient Egypt,Egyptian alabaster (translucent Calcite) linked the stone to divinities such as Bastet (protection and fertility) or Maat (truth, balance and cosmic order), although we have no historical evidence of any specific use or belief in Green Calcite.
In ancient Greece and Rome, all Calcites were believed to have medicinal virtues that promoted love and fertility.
In the Middle Ages, it was valued for its presence in stained glass windows; while colored glass was the most common, more rarely the deep green hues of stone were also used to depict biblical and symbolic scenes.
Its properties and benefits in lithotherapy
Green Calcite symbolizes the unspeakable, allowing us to step outside ourselves. It accompanies you on a road where we feel our emotions without filters or self-inflicted protections.
It distances you from those self-created barriers that, under the guise of preserving you, freeze you in the present in a state of denial and spiritual blindness.
Invasive thoughts are a form of blindness, the expression of a game of hide-and-seek with regard to emotions that are too painful, the source of a malaise that we don't know how to tackle.
Its use on an emotional level will therefore be soothing and regenerative, helping to release tension and reduce anxiety through self-acceptance, both of our limits and of our neglected potential.
Attempting a new use for energies that were intended for denial means using Green Calcite as a catalyst for inner transformation. By helping to detach oneself from the past, it encourages one to embrace personal evolution as a way to dissipate anger and open one's eyes to compassion, easing judgments about oneself and others.
In meditation
In meditation, Green Calcite can help by bringing energies conducive to inner peace, introspection and self-reconnection.
Physical effects
The physical effects of stone are not supported by science, but rather by tradition, which associates it with revitalization of the body, the immune system and bone and joint health.
What stones to match green calcite with?
With lithotherapy, it is possible to create energetic synergies tailored to specific intentions. Here are a few suggestions:
- You can combine Green Calcite with Green Microcline or Amazonite for better emotional communication and understanding with others.
- Célestite, Célestine or Coelestin will help you relax deeply when searching for yourself and in meditation and

Mineralogy of Green Calcite
It's a variety of calcite, a mineral composed mainly of calcium carbonate, green in color due to the presence of impurities - iron, copper or nickel.
The crystal system of Green Calcite is trigonal, i.e. it is characterized by the presence of a ternary axis of symmetry: the crystal can be rotated 120° around an axis and regain exactly the same appearance three times per complete rotation (360°).
A remarkable feature is its perfect rhombohedral cleavage and high birefringence, enabling it to split the images seen through the crystal.
It is formed by the precipitation of calcium-rich water in sedimentary environments, such as limestone caves or hydrothermal veins.
Its main deposits are in Mexico, the United States, Brazil and China.
Its hardness is 3 on the Mohs scale: relatively soft and easy to cut.
