Menstrual cycle and lithotherapy

female cycle and lithotherapy

Which stone for menstrual pain, irregular cycles, endometriosis, premenstrual symptoms, menorrhagia?

A comprehensive article on how to soothe menstrual cycle "troubles" with lithotherapy, guidance and healing with semi-precious stones.

Before looking for the right stone to relieve your cramps, regulate your cycle or alleviate your violent mood swings, it's worth asking yourself the question of the origin of these "disorders".

Like all medicines, lithotherapy is far more effective when you look at what's at the root of the problem, rather than focusing solely on the symptom or symptoms.

If we take menstrual pain as an example: "Periods hurt anyway" is a tenacious belief. Menstruation shouldn't make you lie in bed writhing in pain. No, it's not normal to feel pain during your period.

So why do so many women have pain?

On a physical level, the uterus contracts to evacuate part of the endometrium, all that is no longer necessary since there has been no fertilization and therefore no nesting. It's the time of the moons, of blood flow and if for you it rhymes with pain, it's because there's an imbalance somewhere, which may be caused either by a pathology such as one or more uterine or ovarian cysts or endometriosis, or by excess tension (stress, heavy memories ingrained in the pelvic area), an unsuitable diet, hormonal imbalance, contraception with too much estrogen, a copper IUD...

Stones are not a substitute for specialist care, especially in the case of pathology, but they can provide valuable support.

The feminine cycle, energies for growth

Symbolically, the time of the moons is a sacred space where you are invited to free yourself of all that is no longer necessary and acquire new knowledge to be able to begin a new cycle and this goes far beyond physiology. In this space, the spiritual and emotional planes of your being are also expressed.

There's more to the female cycle than menstruation and ovulation. It's a whole that needs to be tamed and understood as a whole.
When, for example, your periods are painful, irregular or very heavy, or when the premenstrual phase is too difficult to cope with, it's worth observing your entire cycle to better understand what your body is telling you.

To sum up, your cycle is made up of 4 phases with very distinct energies:

pre-ovulatory

The pre-ovulatory phase

When your body creates everything necessary for ovulation. These are the energies of life impulse and renewal and can offer you dynamism and confidence, these are the days when nothing can stop you and your determination guides you.

Related stones : Apricot Moonstone, Peridot, Lizardite, Citrine

ovulation

Ovulation

When everything is ready to welcome a possible spermatozoon to create life. The energies here are called welcome, gratitude and fullness. It's an outward-looking time when it's often easier to take care of others and Life in general.
Associated stones: White moonstone, Selenite, Chrysocolla, Aquamarine

premenstrual

The premenstrual phase

When the body prepares to evacuate all that it has brilliantly created for the nesting that didn't take place. The energies expressing themselves invite you to bring your shadows to light and become aware of what no longer belongs in your life, what no longer belongs to you, what needs to be transformed, transcended.
Descending into your shadows is a step that can be very painful, but oh so necessary for growth! Not being aware that every month your energies are pushing you into this can be deeply destabilizing.
Associated stones : Grey or brown moonstone, Obsidian, Sardonyx, Smoky quartz

menstruation

Menstruation

When the blood flows, a timeless space of introspection is created, where you can rest, take a step back, gain height and make a final selection before the next cycle. It's a time to let go of all accumulated tensions, to let go of what needs to die and mourn its passing, to be the Phoenix that rises from the ashes.
Associated stones : Black moonstone, garnet, red jasper, heliotrope

Every month we dance with these very different energies, we're not linear and that's what makes the strength and beauty of the feminine "it creates".

Lithotherapy and menstrual cycle disorders

Which stone for menstrual pain?

As I said earlier, it's interesting to ask yourself about the origin of these pains: do they occur every cycle? Was there a recent or more distant event that created tension? Is there a pathology that could be at the root of the pain? If I listen to my body and my need for rest, are these pains as severe? Have I recently eaten a lot of dairy products, meats or processed foods?

Depending on the cause, you'll be better able to determine which stone will help you.

Most pain-relieving stones have the virtue of drawing out or decrystallizing the "evil" causing the pain. Here are a few examples:

malachite
Malachite is an excellent pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory stone. Its green color connects you to nature and gives you a sense of calm. It also relieves dizziness and nausea that can occur during menstruation.
chrysocolle
Chrysocolla has anti-inflammatory properties that can relieve pain caused by uterine contractions. It is a very soothing stone, reminiscent of islands and azure-blue coves. In cases of depression or anxiety, it is a supportive companion.
Carnelian
Carnelian balances the fire in your pelvis, helping you to release memories and tensions that can be the source of pain.
Red jasper
Red Jasper invites you to live your moons consciously and make peace with your blood. By honoring this flowing blood and connecting with its sacred nature and the power of the earth, by welcoming your pains as a liberating force, a message from your body, they are likely to subside. Red jasper also works on everything to do with your womb and can help heal this area of your body.
heliotrope or blood jasper
Heliotrope or blood jasper has the same virtues as red jasper, but connects your womb to your heart.
Moonstone grey white Beads 10mm 9243 1
Moonstone is the perfect stone for women. It acts as a hormonal regulator and reconnects you to your feminine energies. During menstruation, it relieves pain with the wisdom to help you find the cause and invites you to take time for yourself.
moss agate
Moss agate carries the energy of enchanted forests, connecting you to the earth with a touch of mischief. It symbolizes the womb and its earth and water energies care for your womb. With all its benevolence, it relieves tensions that could be the cause of pain.

And of course, give yourself time for cooconing, more frequent breaks and baths. Organize yourself to avoid filling your day with anything that isn't essential or urgent. Take care of yourself and lie down with your chosen stone on your belly.

Which stone for difficult premenstrual syndrome?

Anxiety, mood swings, frustration, anger, pain, nausea, yeast infections, cystitis... The premenstrual phase can be very difficult for many womenand those around them).

Most problems can be explained by the drastic drop in progesterone that occurs a few days after ovulation and a hormonal imbalance is often the cause of many discomforts.

If it's normal to experience introspective energies, sometimes surprising mood swings and surges of anger or frustration during this phase, it doesn't have to be incapacitating or unbearable.

If you experience unbearable premenstrual syndrome every cycle, it's a good idea to consult a specialist to make sure there's no pathology involved.

The premenstrual phase encourages introspection, a descent into your shadows. It's a time when we tend to see everything that's wrong and our sensitivity can be heightened. By being aware of this and welcoming what emerges within you, everything makes sense and you realize how necessary these energies are for growing closer to yourself.

My favorite stones to accompany me during this period of enchantment are Brown Moonstone and Golden Obsidian.

golden obsidian
Golden Obsidian is a stone of introspection that guides and accompanies you on your journey of introspection. In fact, it leaves you no choice! With it, you have to go deep inside yourself to free yourself from patterns, masks and everything that clutters you and prevents you from spreading your wings in all authenticity. It's a stone that shows you the way to radiate your inner light.
gray moonstone
Gray, brown or black moonstone acts on your hormonal balance, connects you to your inner wild woman, your enchantress and invites you to howl with the wolves. She knows the art of introspection, and is an experienced and wise guide you can count on.
fossilized wood
Fossilized woodthis wise old man who lived over 220 million years ago, carries within him the memory and knowledge of the earth.
It invites you to reconnect with your deepest nature, providing the anchoring and stability you need for your experience on earth. It also works on old transgenerational patterns that are waiting to be released.
By improving your anchoring, you'll have a better grounding to release the tensions and frustrations that speak loudly during the premenstrual phase.
Amethyst
Amethyst is an excellent stone for calming your frustrations and anger. By freeing your mind of redundant parasitic thoughts, it connects you to the spiritual part of your being, facilitates inner peace and helps you to trust your intuition and keep the faith in difficult moments.
Ocean jasper
Ocean Jasper has earth and water energies that help you welcome and work through difficult emotions. This stone knows that emotions are precious messengers on your path to you love me.
labradorite
Labradoriteacts as a kind of protective "bubble", helping you to avoid burdening yourself with things that don't belong to you and improving your sense of grounding.
Selenite
Selenite brings you serenity and acts as a great healer, drawing out disruptive energies. It is also very effective in cases of pain during the premenstrual phase or menstruation.

During the premenstrual phase, give yourself time to create, sing, dance, play music or walk in nature. Connecting with the earth and your creativity will help you manage the flood of conflicting emotions and feelings that can easily take over during this period of your cycle.

And remember that everything is in perpetual motion: after autumn comes winter, then spring.

The stones that help you heal your wounds

Most menstrual "disorders" are often due to an energy blockage in the pelvic area. There is frequently an accumulation of tension in this area which prevents energy from circulating properly and can create imbalances and even pathologies such as endometriosis, infertility or cysts.

The wounds at the root of these tensions and blockages often include memories of sexual abuse, rape and incest.

Memories of miscarriages, difficult births, obstetric violence.

Not respecting one's own female body, not knowing or being able to set limits and letting unwanted energies into oneself.

And/or simply the stress inherent in daily life and which has accumulated in this area.

carnelian
Carnelian carries the energy of transformative fire, radiating throughout the pelvic area and excellent for releasing memories stored in this part of the body. Particularly suitable for all aspects of sexuality and perinatal mourning. It's also a joyful and warm stone, inviting you to enjoy life and be creative.
pink opal
The pink opal invites you to respect and love yourself. With love and kindness, it helps to heal deep wounds and works particularly well on memories of rape.
apricot moonstone
White, green, gray, black or apricot moonstone harmonizes hormonal secretions and connects you to your feminine energies. Moonstone is a great healer of wounds related to the unrespected feminine through the ages.
hessonite garnet
Hessonite garnet is a magnificent caramel-orange garnet with a powerful, transformative fire that stimulates the reproductive organs, libido and helps circulate energies in the pelvis. It has great healing power for wounds in this area of the body.
Rhodochrosite
Rhodonite and Rhodochrosite are wonderful anti-stress stones that help you release tension of all kinds. In case of emotional shock, anxiety or tormented periods, these stones are there to support and soothe you.
Amazonite
Amazonite heals wounds related to sexuality and reconnects you to your deepest nature, to the wild woman you are, so that you can live according to your own desires.
It is a favorite companion for women awakening to the sacred feminine, as it has balancing virtues on our masculine and feminine energies.

Wear your stone as a pendant around your belly or place it on your belly when you're relaxing and bathing or sleeping.

Performing a liberation ritual with the stone of your choice can be a powerful way of releasing painful memories.

Which stone to use in case of menorrhagia (heavy periods)?

Here too, the causes are multiple and not always easy to understand. Diet can play a fundamental role, but experience and emotions are also important.

Pyrope garnet
Pyrope garnet and Almandine garnet have anti-hemorrhagic properties and help purification and blood circulation. Granat connects to the earth, bringing strength, dynamism, courage and perseverance, which can be a great help when long and heavy periods tire you.
Heliotrope
Heliotrope (Blood Jasper) also calms hemorrhage and helps eliminate toxins that can cause heavy periods.

Menorrhagia can cause anemia. Jasper-hematite and Hematite are available to support the body's iron deficiency.

Jasper-hematite
Ancestralite (Jasper-hematite) is a red jasper mixed with hematite. This stone has the virtues of both red jasper and hematite.
hematite
Hematite is an ideal stone for fatigue, as it has vitalizing properties. Composed of iron, it purifies the blood and has detoxifying properties. It regulates blood flow during menstruation and supports your body in case of anemia.

Lithotherapy is perfectly complementary to traditional medicine or other alternative therapies such as naturopathy, acupuncture, bio-reasoning or energy treatments, but in no way replaces appropriate medical care.
