A brief introduction to lithotherapy and a presentation of the stones that are most welcome during this special time of year
and not only during this period)
Lithotherapy
In the study of the world of stones and minerals, there are two branches: mineralogy, which is the study of minerals from a purely scientific point of view and lithotherapy, which is the use of stones and minerals for therapeutic purposes.
lithotherapy is based on mineralogy in the sense that the chemical composition of a stone defines its properties and virtues.
How does it work?
Each stone has its own character and energy. This comes from its composition, crystalline formation, color, texture and density.
In fact, it's like a person: there are people whose company we enjoy, some who make us laugh, others who invite us to love ourselves, to gain confidence in our potential, or who take us out of our comfort zones. There are people who reveal our shadows and encourage us to grow and there are people we'd rather not be around.
With stones, it's more or less the same.
How do I know which stone is right for me?
Your choice will never be a matter of chance and even if you think you don't feel anything in terms of energies or intuition, there's always a shape, an aspect, a color, a texture that will attract or repel you. I've noticed that every time someone thinks they've chosen a stone by "chance", curiously enough, the stone's virtues are perfectly suited to that person's needs.
Another method might be to base yourself on a problem (physical, psychic or emotional) and go looking in books or on the Internet for the right stone for what you want to work on. But you'll soon find yourself having to choose between a dozen different stones. I invite you to take the time to look inside yourself and question the origin of your "problem".
For example, you suffer from insomnia. It's vague, there are many causes and a stone works on the causes, rarely on the symptoms. So, for better targeting, ask yourself why. Is your insomnia a one-off, or is it permanent? Do you have thoughts that go round and round in your head at bedtime? Do you feel anxious? Stressed? Have there been any changes or events in your life that worry you? Do you feel comfortable in bed? Etc...
How to use a stone
- There are lots of different ways to use a stone.
- Smaller stones can be worn on the body, in the pocket, in the bra, as a pendant or mounted on jewelry. You can also place them under your pillow (except for stones whose energy is very "fiery", as this would be contradictory with a time of rest).
- A larger stone can be placed in your living space to harmonize it, or in your workplace.
- For a ritual: For example, a fertility ritual with carnelian or a love and gentleness ritual with rose quartz in bath water.
- As an elixir, make sure the stones you choose are compatible with fluids and do not contain dangerous chemical elements.
- One point that seems important to me is to use a stone consciously and not forget to thank it.
Health crisis and containment, the stones that can support you in this stage
In preparing the conference I had chosen simply to answer the most frequently asked questions and present the stones corresponding to these questions, but the minerals speak... and it was only natural that they invited me to introduce you to those of them that can be of great help during this period.
The list is not exhaustive and it's obvious that these stones can be a support in many other moments of your life.
Step 1: Protect yourself from ambient negativity
A pandemic is not a trivial matter, and everyone is talking about it. Well-founded and unfounded information on the subject can be read and heard everywhere. Clusters and egregores with very "negative" energies form and can reach us relatively easily.
This 1st step is dedicated to protective stones. Here, I've chosen to introduce you to 3 stones that are very different in the way they act.
I'd like to point out that often the best protection is a good anchor. Take the example of a tree. When a tree has strong and healthy roots that go deep into the earth, it can easily withstand storms and most of the disruptive elements present in its environment. Conversely, if its roots are weak and shallow, it will easily uproot itself, lose its verticality or have difficulty drawing the nutrients it needs. The same applies to us humans.
Black tourmaline
In geobiology, it is often installed in the 4 corners of the house to anchor the dwelling and correct any disturbances that may come from the ground and outside. It can also be placed directly at the point of disturbance.
It's the stone to drop on the Wi-fi router, the dect phone, the baby-phone, the electric conteur or any other device emitting disruptive waves.
When worn, tourmaline is an invaluable aid to anchoring us, to planting our roots deep in the earth. This is how its protection works; with a good anchoring, we have an optimal "grounding" and can easily "unload" and keep our verticality in the face of concrete difficulties. It helps us to deal with material aspects, to get down to the nitty-gritty without running away or losing focus.
After a treatment or meditation, it brings us back to the here and now.
Obsidian
Tiger's eye
Labradorite
It's often called "the therapist's stone", because it helps us to avoid taking on things that don't belong to us.
It works by creating a kind of "sponge" shield-bubble around our aura and absorbs and dissolves heavy "negative" energies. It also has great regenerative power and helps us fight fatigue while developing our intuition and extra-sensory perceptions.
Its virtues make it an ideal stone for people working in the health or social fields.
It can charge up quickly, so frequent purification is recommended to keep its potential. Overcharged labradorite will crack, fade or break.
Other protective stones: Shungite, black spinel, stibine, smoky quartz (protects against one's own dark thoughts), serpentine (protects against physical aggression).
Step 2: Boost your immune system
Boosting your immune system is the best way to protect yourself against disease. Many stones have this virtue. Combine them with a balanced diet and herbal teas to give yourself the best chance of success.
The Chrysocolla
Aquamarine
Aquamarine urges us to overcome our fears by reaching out to our sensitivity and unfolding our own creativity. Linked to the throat chakra, it invites us to sing. For the Celtic people, it is the "original matrix of life", symbolizing the universal mother, welcome, tenderness and reinforcing our maternal instincts by letting our feminine side express itself freely.
It strengthens the immune system and works wonders on sinus, throat and larynx irritations.
Soft and restful, aquamarine soothes tension, especially in the neck and jaw.
Malachite
Step 3: Dealing with fears, anxieties and anger
This health crisis is leading us to live in an unusual way. We have to adapt, to live in a kind of day-to-day unknown, to change our plans, our habits and all this can be very destabilizing. It's common and legitimate to feel anxiety, doubts, fears, frustrations and anger.
Amethyst
Amethyst frees our mind from obsessive thoughts, rebalances it and soothes both anguish and anger.
It facilitates meditation, concentration and visualization sessions.
Rhodocrosite
Step 4: Refocus on the essentials: Love, inner peace and family harmony
Just because we can't touch each other anymore doesn't mean we don't need love, quite the contrary. It's time to pamper ourselves, to surround ourselves with soothing, enveloping, reassuring energies. It's time to give love to yourself and to those close to you.
In this troubled and uncertain external environment, our home in which we are confined, just like our inner self, needs to find calm and peace.
Kunzite
It is a great support during periods of melancholy or depression, soothing grief and relieving emotional deficiencies.
And.... It even calms unruly children (well, after 3 weeks confined to an apartment, I don't know if that's enough, but it can help).
Manganocalcite
Blue calcite
I mention it here because it's the stone for family harmony and caring communication between family members.
It is a great success with children who have difficulty expressing their emotions and helps them to sleep.
It is calm, patient and a good listener.
Step 5: Getting organized, studying, working and concentrating in spite of everything
Many of us have to learn to cope with telecommuting, organization, homeschooling and all that it entails. Here are a few tips for young and old to help them organize their new daily lives and focus on their respective tasks.
Fluorite
Fluorite organizes and brings structure to rational thought and imagination. It helps us stay logical and focused while opening up our creativity.
If we sleep with her, we're more likely to remember our dreams.
On a physical level, it supports the body in eliminating toxins.
Pyrite
It is remarkable for stimulating memory and memorization. It brings structure to our intellectual and research work.
It opens the door to self-confidence and allows our "inner sun" to shine.
Another positive point: it also acts on the respiratory tract.
Chalcopyrite
In addition to its surprising colors, which often appeal to children and the properties of the pyrite that is part of its composition, chalcopyrite acts directly on our nervous system and increases the speed of circulation between the neurons, making it excellent for mental alertness!
Step 6: One of the most important: Unleash your creativity, laugh, play, dance, Live
We all need that inner fire that draws us into a joyful dance, that urges us to express ourselves. We all need joy, warmth and laughter, the energies of celebration and play that bind us together. If we can't go out dancing or see our friends, let's bring these energies into our homes.
Sunstone
It's one of those festivals where music, dance and human warmth mingle in the midst of summer. Sunstone doesn't bear its name by chance. It carries the warmth of Life, Joy, boundless optimism and brings its light to even the most difficult periods of our lives.
It boosts self-confidence and encourages introverts to come out of their shells.
At this time of year, it can be a great support to those suffering from loneliness.
Carnelian
It brings fertility in every sense of the word. Placed in the bedroom, it won't encourage sleep, but it will boost our libido.
Step 7: "Be the change you want for the world".
What if we looked at this crisis as an opportunity for change? As a great cleansing that invites us to return to the Essentials, to our values, to Nature.
My favorite stone and one that makes perfect sense at this time of year:
Peridot
Peridot and its luminous green carries the joyful energy of spring and renewal, and is a great purifier that helps us let go of old memories, heal our wounds and open up to the infinite possibilities of rebirth.
She invites us to connect deeply with nature in all its splendour through our hearts. Mysterious and magical, it opens the doors to the realm of nature's spirits, inviting us to meet them.
Feminine, protective and sensitive, it enables us to welcome, recognize and heal the feminine aspects of our Being.
Like most stones with spring energies, it has energizing virtues, helps us fight fatigue and offers vitality to our body and mind. It strengthens the immune system and aids digestion.
Its power is great and often overrides other stones. When this is the case, its healing powers are diverted. It is therefore advisable to wear it alone.
Purifying and recharging stones
Stones absorb and become charged with the energies present in their environment. When a stone is overcharged, its virtues are altered, its energy becomes heavy and its appearance can change (losing its color or brilliance, cracking and even breaking), so it is necessary to purify them regularly (some more often than others).
A whole host of techniques are possible and effective, but not all techniques are suitable for all stones. What counts for purification is the intention you put into the act of purifying.
Here are a few simple ones:
Breathing: Blowing on it with the intention that our breath be purifying.
Fumigation: By burning plants and letting the smoke travel over the stones.
Buy incense in our online store
Water: Run the stones under running tap water (a spring is even better). Beware of porous stones such as selenite, which do not like water.
Sound: With a singing bowl, by placing the stones on a cloth directly inside the bowl, or by making the bowl sing close to the stones. See our singing bowls
Sometimes most stones need to be recharged with good energies. Some methods:
Breath, water and sound as described above, but with the intention of recharging.
Sun and moon: Place stones in direct sunlight or moonlight (preferably full), depending on the stone's energies. Some stones recharge in moonlight, others in sunlight.
Soft words: Consciously saying soft words from the heart, such as "I love you" or "Thank you", and also very effective for recharging a stoneand not just stones).
*Please note! Some minerals can be toxic and must not be harmed or ingested (as such or in the form of powder, elixir or stone water) or be in prolonged contact with the skin or mucous membranes.
*The information on the stones described here are general indications based on our research and experience, and are not exhaustive.
