What are chakras?
Chakras are the "crossroads" where the human body's energy channels, known as nadis, intersect, and serve as "gateways" to cosmic energies, also known as Prâna. The word chakra means wheel in Sanskrit, as the chakras are not immobile, but rotate on themselves and their speed of rotation is an indicator of their balance. Their size, meanwhile, indicates their state of blossoming.
The human body has a multitude of chakras, but here we'll only go into detail about the seven major ones.
They are called major, because they alone ensure the functioning and regulation of not only the physical body, but also the nervous, glandular, endocrine and hormonal systems, as well as all our cerebral, intellectual and spiritual functions. What's more, each chakra corresponds to a specific level of consciousness.

Upper Chakras
In some ancient texts, mention is made of the existence of 22 chakras located below our feet, in connection with our anchorage and reception of Earth energies; and 22 chakras located above our head, in connection with our connection to Heaven and reception of cosmic energies. But only the first chakra under our feet, the Earth chakra, and the first five chakras above our head, nos. 8 to 12, will be discussed. For the others, as their concepts are unknown on earth, transcriptions remain rather haphazard. These so-called higher chakras are linked to our soul and our multidimensionality. They have no direct connection with our physical body. What's more, they are only activated at higher stages of our evolution and spiritual awakening.
Earth Chakra
It connects our Essence to the earth network and is our anchor point on this planet. The Earth chakra is a very powerful means of anchoring ourselves in the here and now and it gives a precise framework to life, where we are not just a spirit, but a soul incarnated in a body related to this planet where there is an experience to be had, while working towards the fulfillment of our Self. Our Presence is a richness for us and this world; and to forget this fact is to cease honoring and respecting ourselves as a divine being incarnated in matter. This chakra looks like a very bright white star, and is located under our feet. Its distance varies from person to person, from ten centimetres under the arches of the feet to over a metre; it all depends on how much you've accepted your incarnation.
Chakra 8: The Christic Embryo
It is the gateway to the soul. Its color is pink, slightly tinged with light green and it interacts directly with the heart chakra, hence its two-tone representation (green & pink). It lies above the coronal chakra and is linked to the Earth chakra.
Chakra 9: The radiance of the Divine
It signals our presence on Earth. It's our celestial "identity card". It represents the richness of our origins linked to Mother Earth. Its color is turquoise, and it's located above the 8th chakra.
Chakra 10: Communication andamp; Communion with the Divine
Linked to the Sun, it represents our Solar Self. Its color is pearly white, and it is located above the 9th chakra.
Chakra 11: The Creative Word
It is our "stargate", enabling our soul to communicate with our galaxy and our stellar family. Its color is salmon-pink, and it lies above the 10th chakra.
Chakra 12: The primordial androgyne
It is the space of Source, the connection to Alcyone, the Central Sun of our galaxy. It's the return home, the connection to All That Is. To be in this chakra is to have reactivated our twelve strands of DNA and regained full Consciousness, from which we have in fact never been separated. It also projects us beyond this galaxy, into the multiverse. This chakra is our link with the Source of Life. Its color is luminescent gold. It lies above the 11th chakra.
